Today there is no music classes because today is Chinese new year. The school is off and we get 4 days vacation in a row.

Music Reflection #42 (Grade 10)

Today there is no music class for me because some of us including me are chosen to be a representative in doing the ISA (International School Assessment) from the Australian school. Although we're not attending the class, I still receiving homework from Mr.Herry that told us to write 1000 words essay about "Jazz and its role to society". I will do my homework and submit it next week

Music Reflection #41 (Grade 10)
27-01-2011, Thursday
Today is the day of our submission of essay. Almost all of the student submitted because we are afraid of our score being deducted again on report. After that, we discussed more about the jazz scale and practice more on guessing which scales are which when Mr. Herry played the scale on the piano. On the second session we get to go to our instrument classes. which is a very rare occasion because Mr.Herry always spends 60 minutes or more for our music theory classes. on the instrument classes we play the jazz scale and discuss how to improve it in the violin. I will write my blog on the internet and play my violin.

Today we were given a task about an essay that must be submitted on Thursday.. I got the third option out of three option that have been given for our essay topic. After that we listen on our friend's instrumental jazz play and then we go for our instrument classes. I will practice the jazz music on my violin.

Today we got a new handout about jazz music. Then we are explained about swing, rag time, be-bop, etc. After that we played the scale about jazz from violin, piano, and guitar. I will practice more jazz scale so it will be fluent

Today we have to read a jazz context and we have a small quiz directly after reading the context. After finishing the quiz, we practice jazz composition using our own instrument, There is 7th different type of scales, from dorian to locrian. I will practice at home and ask help from my instrument teacher.

Music Reflection #37 (Grade 10)

Today is the first day of semester 2 in music class. It is also the first day of our school starts. We were still excited and talk about the holiday in the class. Since it is the first day, Mr.Herry seems to be more relaxed and talk about the topics that we were going to study, which is Jazz. And then we get to know our score from Semester 1. I think my score is pretty good because I didn't did anything wrong in Semester 1. I will try harder in Semester 2
